The Garden Design service I offer is a multi-part process, which, upon completion, will give you a full garden design, workable plans, plant and other material schedules and tender documentation. Once this is done, I can oversee the implementation of my design, by a Landscape contractor of your choice or my recommendation. Once built and planted, I offer maintenance programmes and horticultural consultation to keep your garden looking at its best. Below I have broken down the process into its various constituent parts, with a description of what is entailed.
INITIAL CONSULTATION
For an initial consultation, I visit the site and meet you to discuss what is required and inspect the site. I can usually offer general advice, on statutory and legal obligations, plus what landscape services may be required. I will listen to your requirements, and ask you lots of questions about what you might want. I will explain the process of designing your garden and the fees involved at various stages.
This initial consultation is free of charge if within a 50 mile radius. For visits further afield, expenses including time and travel will be charged.
SITE SURVEY
This is where I do a full survey of your garden, taking measurements in order to be able to draw up your garden accurately, and develop the design.
STANDARD GARDEN DESIGN SERVICE
The fee for this part of the work will depend on the size of the garden; for gardens up to 500m2 in area, the charges will be;
Gardens up to 250m2 (300 sq yds) £300
Gardens up to 500m2 (600 sq yds) £400
For gardens larger than 500m2, the fee will be a percentage of the total project budget. This will be based on the final contract sum certificate, and is split as follows;
OUTLINE PROPOSALS / SCHEME DESIGN
This is where I work on all the information so far given, and formulate an outline proposal. This is presented to you for your comment and feedback, and any changes you request will be incorporated.
DETAIL DESIGN
Once we have agreed on the general concept of the garden and its features, I will work up the scheme design, and finalize the Garden Layout Plan. Design Detail and Setting Out plans, as well as Construction Details for drainage and irrigation are included here.
PLANTING DETAILS & SCHEDULE
Once the Garden Layout Plan has been finalized, a Planting Plan, including plant numbers, varieties and spacings, will be drawn up showing a complete species list.
TENDER DOCUMENTATION
Finally, a set of specifications will be drawn up, as well as an invitation-to-tender document. Alternatively, if a ‘preferred contractor’ is to be used, I will give guidance as to the correct pricing that might be expected.
SITE OPERATIONS & CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION
As an additional service, I can oversee site operations, including the preparation of contract documents and handle Contract Administration. This may include site inspections, certification of payments, snag lists and final certification. Fee for this service is either Time based (£/hour) or a Lump Sum figure can be negotiated.
Other Services Offered
The following services are also offered. Fees are negotiated on an individual basis;
Garden Maintenance
Garden Restoration
Hiring Contractors
